Hector De Leon

Mr. De Leon is Chairman of The Board of De Leon & Washburn, P.C. in Austin, Texas, established in 1977. Prior to that, Mr. De Leon was General Counsel of the Texas State Insurance Board. He served as Legal Counsel to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy from 1978 to 1987. Mr. De Leon’s main areas of practice are ERISA, insurance, health law and general civil litigation. He also has taught at UT Law as an Adjunct Professor since 1990. He is Board Certified in the area of Administrative Law.

He was the president of the Texas Exes Alumni Association from 2004 to 2005 and is one of three recipients of the 2007 University of Texas Presidential Citation. Mr. De Leon was Chairman of the Board of the National Hispanic Institute from 1997-2005 and was an inaugural inductee into the National Hispanic Institute Hall of Fame in 2006. He also served on the Hospice of Austin Board of Directors. Mr. De Leon is a 2010 recipient of the University of Texas Ex-Students Association Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Mr. De Leon received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1973 and a B.S. in education from the University of Texas in 1970. He is a lifetime Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and served as President of the UT Law Alumni Association.
