Jim Collins is the Executive Assistant Travis County Attorney, supervising the four civil divisions of the Office. Prior to serving as Executive Assistant, he was the Chief of the Civil Division. He has served in the Office for twenty-three years, fifteen of which involved intensive civil trial practice.
Before joining the Travis County Attorney's Office, Mr. Collins was in private practice for five years, first with the Amarillo firm of Gibson, Ochsner & Adkins, and then in solo practice in Austin.
Mr. Collins has served on the Civil Committee of the Texas District and County Attorneys' Association and is a recipient of the Association's Gerald Summerford Civil Practitioner of the Year Award. He is a frequent speaker at Association seminars. He has served as Chair of the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and is one of the founders and President of Austin Pets Alive! He is currently the Administrator of the Travis County Hospital District.
