The Center for Global Energy, International Arbitration and Environmental Law sent a team to the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot Court Competition in Vienna, Austria on April 15-21. This moot court competition is organized on an annual basis in Vienna by Pace University. The Vis Moot is named after the late Willem Cornelis Vis, Executive Secretary of the Vienna Diplomatic Conference. The purpose of this competition is to promote the learning as well as application of international commercial arbitration. The moot problem is generally based on a business dispute; and the teams present their arguments before a panel of arbitrators. The team representing the University of Texas School of Law in 2011 consisted of Cheng Zhang and Renee Kolar.
