Become an Affiliate
Greetings from the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice!
We would like to invite to you to join our growing network of affiliated faculty members.
While the Rapoport Center is housed in the UT law school, our mission is to build a multidisciplinary community engaged in the study and practice of human rights that promotes the economic and political enfranchisement of marginalized individuals and groups both locally and globally. Our faculty affiliates hail from a variety of disciplines: the Anthropology, English, Government, History, Journalism, and Sociology departments, the LBJ School of Public Affairs and the UT Law School are among those represented.
Our faculty affiliate program offers a variety of opportunities for our affiliates, including:
- Research support. We recently launched our interdisciplinary Working Group Program with a call for faculty proposals to fund collaborative groups focusing on topics related to the theory and practice of human rights.
- Forum for intellectual discussion for human rights. Our conferences, speakers, and happy hours provide participants with a chance to engage in informed and meaningful conversations about human rights issues and advocacy.
- Connection with students. We compile a listing of our affiliates’ human rights courses and are creating a database of their research interests and available research or volunteer opportunities for students. These resources will allow us to better connect interested students with our affiliates’ work.
- Connection with the UT human rights community. Our faculty affiliates have the opportunity to interact closely with Visiting Researchers and Scholars from outside UT as well as our own Human Rights Scholars, undergraduate interns, and summer fellows.
- Outlet to share achievements, publications, or events. We are happy to publicize and support our affiliates’ events or publications that share our mission.
To find out more information about our faculty affiliate program, you can explore the site and/or refer to our faculty involvement opportunities document here.
We are in the process of finding more meaningful and reciprocal ways to engage our faculty so as to better harness the expertise, activism and ideas that our affiliates espouse.
If you are interested in becoming affiliated with us, please fill out and return the Affiliate Data Form to Center Administrator Sarah Cline.
