During a week-long fact-finding trip to Brazil, an interdisciplinary student delegation from the University of Texas (comprised of students from the School of Law, Latin American Studies, and the LBJ School of Public Affairs) will conduct interviews with Afro-descendant community representatives, government officials, NGOs, activists, and academics. These interviews will take place in a variety of locations in Brail, including Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, and Brasilia. Students will use the results of the field work conducted during the trip to write one or more reports detailing the findings of the project and to make policy recommendations to be disseminated to relevant governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations and policymakers.
