Graduate Students: Practical Opportunities
Human Rights Clinic
As the newest clinic at the law school, the Human Rights Clinic opened in spring 2009 under the direction of Professor Ariel Dulitzky. This interdisciplinary clinic allows graduate and professional students from departments across UT to work on human rights projects and cases from the advocate's perspective. Through working on specific projects and participation in the classroom component of the clinic, students learn substantive human rights law, practice important advocacy techniques and explore different models for ethical, responsible and effective human rights advocacy. LLILAS-Rapoport Human Rights Fellowship
The Teresa Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies (LLILAS) selects one LAS graduate student for a LLILAS-Rapoport Fellowship during the academic year. The LLILAS-Rapoport Fellow works along-side the Rapoport Center's Human Rights Scholars and closely with faculty and administrators affiliated with the Center to help coordinate many of the Center's current programs, research and advocacy projects. Summer Internships at the Rapoport Center
The Rapoport Center offers funds to professional and graduate students to work for the Rapoport Center as Summer Fellows. Summer Fellows help with the Center’s projects, publications, conferences, and research and are awarded a stipend to work at least half-time (20 hrs/week). Click here for this summer's application information. Deadline: April 20, 2009.
Human Rights Employment Resources
In conjunction with the Law School Career Services Office, the Rapoport Center has compiled a document of human rights employment opportunities (.pdf) that UT Law students and alumni have pursued. Our students and graduates have a wealth of experience in the human rights field, and we hope this will serve as a resource to others looking to enter the field.
Graduate Student Human Rights Organizations
There are a small number of graduate student organizations on campus, working on various human rights issues. Contact us if you would like to suggest an organization for the list below.
