The Center provides stipends for summer internships with nongovernmental and intergovernmental human rights organizations in the United States and abroad that advocate for the economic and political enfranchisement of marginalized individuals and groups. In the past, UT students have worked at human rights organizations in the United States, Bosnia, Chiapas, and Cambodia, and with various organizations engaged in democratization work in Latin America. Recent additional funding from the Cain Foundation allowed us to increase these opportunities. Read the press release about the ten Rapoport Summer Scholars selected for 2006.

Through support provided by the Cain Foundation, the Law School regularly facilitates judicial internship placements with international courts and tribunals, including the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and the European Court of Justice. Students and recent graduates may receive funding or academic credit for these internships. The International Programs site provides more detailed information on international human rights internship opportunities. UT Law graduate Ken Kern's clerkship at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and UT Law graduate Jay Bischoff's work prosecuting genocide cases at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda highlight two stories of UT students.
