The UT Law Faculty Post-Graduate Fellowship in Public Interest Law was established in 2005 through generous contributions from members of the law faculty and the Law School. It provides opportunities for public service employment to dedicated students who might not otherwise find such positions early in their career. The Fellowship provides $37,000 to an outstanding graduating student or judicial clerk to work with a public interest legal organization on behalf of underrepresented individuals or groups. The award is made for one year, for full-time legal work sponsored by an existing organization and supervised by a licensed attorney.
The Fellow is chosen by a faculty committee based on a project proposal, commitment to public service, and demonstrated ability to achieve the project's goals. Preference is given to projects with the potential to make a significant contribution to the effort to provide legal services to the needy.
