Judicial Internship Program

Students enrolled in the Judicial Internship Program receive academic credit for working directly with judges and their staff attorneys and law clerks to draft opinions, orders and legal memoranda. Interns also observe court proceedings and work with instructors to reflect upon their experiences. Through these hands-on experiences, students develop and synthesize their analytical, research and writing skills and broaden their understanding of judicial decisionmaking and the legal system.

During the fall and spring semesters the program serves students who intern with participating courts in Austin. During the summer, students may also intern with federal court judges and state appellate judges outside Austin. Since 2004, more than 60 students have participated each summer, interning with judges across the country.
