The 2004 Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial team won the regional competition held in Lubbock February 19th through the 21st. Team members Hassan Elrakabawy, Edra Anderson, Rafael Morales, and Rachel Morris are coached by Kameron Johnson ('92) and Brian Carter ('03). The UT team defeated South Texas College of Law in the final round for the regional championship and will now advance to the national competition which will be held in Boston beginning March 17th.
The theme for the this year's Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition is "Continuing a Legacy of Truth & Justice." The National Black Law Students Association began the Thurgood Marshall competition in 2002-2003 and it has grown to be one of the largest mock trial competitions nationally. The competition has received accolades from many of the top and largest mock trial organizations in the country.
