Stephen L. Burns

Term: 2008 — 2011

Steve was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965.  He received a B.B.A. with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 1987, and a J.D. with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1990.  At Texas, he was an Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review and a Chancellor. 

Following his graduation from Texas, Steve joined Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City, where he was elected a partner in 1997.  From 2000-2004, Steve served as Cravath’s Managing Partner – Recruiting.  Steve's practice involves a wide variety of corporate matters, including the representation of investment banking firms and issuers in connection with public and private offerings of securities, with a particular emphasis on high yield debt offerings.  Steve also represents a portfolio of corporate clients on general corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions. 

Steve and his wife Stacy live in Rye, New York with their three boys, Austin, Travis, and Cooper.
