Steve was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965. He received a B.B.A. with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 1987, and a J.D. with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1990. At Texas, he was an Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review and a Chancellor.
Following his graduation from Texas, Steve joined Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City, where he was elected a partner in 1997. From 2000-2004, Steve served as Cravath’s Managing Partner – Recruiting, and from 2006-2010 he was the practice leader of Cravath's capital markets practice. Steve's practice focuses on representing issuers and investment banking firms in connection with public and private offerings of securities, as well as representing various corporations on general corporate matters, including corporate governance and M&A matters.
Steve and his wife Stacy live in Rye, New York with their three boys, Austin, Travis, and Cooper.
