Laura P. Johansen

Laurie Johansen currently serves as Vice Chairman of Caris Life Sciences, a leading bioscience company focused on enabling precise and personalized healthcare through the highest quality anatomic pathology, molecular profiling and blood-based diagnostic services.   In 2004, Ms. Johansen and David D. Halbert co-founded Caris, Ltd. a private equity investment partnership focused on the healthcare sector.   Caris, Ltd. became majority owner of Caris Life Sciences in 2005.
Prior to founding Caris, Ltd., Ms. Johansen served for nine years as a member of the executive management team of AdvancePCS, which grew to be the nation's largest pharmacy benefit management company.   She joined AdvancePCS in 1995 as the company’s sole attorney and served in various executive leadership positions including general counsel and senior vice president, corporate secretary.  In 2004, AdvancePCS consummated its $7.5 billion merger with CaremarkRx, generating a 36% premium to AdvancePCS shareholders.

Before joining AdvancePCS, Ms. Johansen worked in the corporate and securities group of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld for five years. She focused on mergers and acquisitions, public equity and debt financing, and general corporate legal and compliance services.

Ms. Johansen earned her business administration degree as well as her law degree from The University of Texas.
