In the first hour, learn the tips and tools you’ll need to succeed as a summer associate at a small or large firm. Panelists include Sandra Rodriguez, ‘94, Partner at Vinson & Elkins (Austin); Gretchen Rollins, Director of Entry-Level Hiring, at Vinson & Elkins (Dallas); and Amber MacIver, '06, Senior Associate at Baker Botts L.L.P. (Austin). Moderated by Tracy McCormack, Director of Advocacy Programs at UT Law.

At 1:00 p.m., Joe Noel, Reference Librarian and Lecturer with the Tarlton Law Library will talk about legal research strategies for summer clerkship assignments. He’ll discuss how to familiarize yourself with your firm's research environment, what questions to ask when you receive an assignment, and best practices for deciding where to start your research. Examples of actual summer assignments from law firms will be presented.
