Each year, more than
600 legal employer offices participated in on-campus and off-campus interviewing programs to compete for UT Law students. The top firms from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. send representatives to recruit at UT Law. Consistently, UT Law is one of the top law schools who send first-year associates to the nation’s largest 250 law firms, as ranked by the National Law Journal (NLJ).
In recent years, about 25 percent of our graduates accept employment in the public sector, which includes government agencies, the judiciary, the military, public interest, and other nonprofit organizations. Throughout the year, the CSO presents multiple programs and panels on careers in public service. In the fall, we host Public Service Speed Networking & Table Talk, an opportunity for students to meet with attorneys who work in the public sector. In the spring, the CSO coordinates Public Service Career Fair, the largest legal public service interviewing event in Texas. Additionally, UT Law is a founding member of the Public Service Job Directory, formerly known as the Public Service Law Network Worldwide, a global database of public service opportunities available to law students.
