Center for Women in Law Founding Member Susan Blount has been promoted to executive vice president of Prudential Financial, Inc. Prudential Financial, Inc. is one of the world’s largest financial services leaders with operations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. In addition to her role as executive vice president, Blount will be responsible for the company’s Law, Compliance, Business Ethics, and External Affairs departments.
Susan Blount has served as senior vice president and general counsel at Prudential Financial since 2005. Under Blount’s leadership, Prudential’s Law Department has been recognized as an “Employer of Choice” by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association; a “Legal Department of the Year” by the New Jersey Law Journal; and the “Corporate Law Department of the Year” by the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association. Active on issues relating to higher education, Blount serves on the boards of Montclair State University and NJ LEEP, Inc. (Law and Education Empowerment Project). In 2011, she received the Women of Power and Influence Award from the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women and the President’s Award from the National Association of Women Lawyers. On June 6, she was honored at the 2013 New Jersey Institute for Social Justice Awards Gala with the Corporate Leadership Award. Blount is a frequent speaker on diversity in the legal profession and corporate governance.
