Center for Women in Law Founder Susan Blount will receive the Corporate Leadership Award at the 2013 New Jersey Institute for Social Justice Awards Gala on June 6. An urban-research and advocacy organization, the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice is dedicated to the advancement of New Jersey’s urban areas and residents. The Corporate Leadership Award is presented to a corporate leader who has shown a particular concern for improving the lives of urban citizens and others.
Susan Blount is senior vice president and general counsel of Prudential Financial, Inc., and is responsible for the company’s Law, Compliance and Business Ethics (LCBE) organization. Active on issues relating to higher education, Blount serves on the boards of Montclair State University and NJ LEEP, Inc. (Law and Education Empowerment Project). In 2011, she received the Women of Power and Influence Award from the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women. Blount is a frequent speaker on diversity in the legal profession and corporate governance.
