Lauren Harrison

Lauren Harrison is a partner in the Houston office of the New Orleans-based law firm Jones Walker.  Her practice encompasses virtually all areas of commercial litigation, including antitrust, intellectual property, fraud, contracts, environmental and regulatory law, and whistleblower statutes.  Her clients are equally diverse, representing the spectrum of energy and petrochemical industries as well as semiconductors, scrap metal and Japanese anime, to name just a few.

Originally from New York, Lauren has called Texas home for 13 years.  She received her bachelor of arts degree from Dartmouth College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was selected as a Senior Fellow of the Class of 1990.  Lauren attended Cornell University Law School, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as Articles Editor for the Cornell Law Review.  Lauren served as a judicial law clerk from 1995–1996 to the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and from 1996–1997 to the late Honorable Eugene A. Wright in the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, both in Seattle, and then worked for a brief time in the Seattle office of Susman Godfrey, where she was the first and only associate.

Lauren relocated to Houston in 1999, where she married another litigator and joined Vinson & Elkins.  Lauren made partner at V&E in 2004 while on maternity leave with their second child.  Their daughters are now 10 and 8.  Lauren left V&E for a smaller, regional law firm on the theory that it would help to achieve balance, though over the years Lauren has come to the conclusion that true balance is elusive and that life should be approached with an appetite for joyful chaos.

Lauren is a middle distance runner, a yoga practitioner, an enthusiastic but unskilled chef, and a fan of all types of travel.  She sits on the Board of Directors of Children at Risk, a nonprofit organization devoted to issues affecting the health of children in Texas, including juvenile justice, human trafficking, and hunger.  Lauren is listed perennially in The Best Lawyers in America® and as a Texas Super Lawyer®.
