After graduating from Rice University and The University of Texas School of Law, Harry Gee joined the Texas Attorney General’s office and worked in the Taxation, Bonds, Insurance, Banking and Condemnation divisions before establishing his own law firm in Houston, Texas. The firm of Harry Gee and Associates presently consists of nine attorneys specializing in the field of immigration law. He has been board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and served as chair of the Examinations Committee on Immigration Law for five years. He served as chapter chair of the Texas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and on the national board of AILA. For two years, he served as chair of the Asian American Bar Association and was elected national president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association in 1991. He was the first Asian to be elected to the State Bar of Texas and served from 1993 to 1996. He is the recipient of the 2006 Spirit of Excellence Award from the American Bar Association, the 2005 Leon Jaworski Award from the Houston Bar Association Auxiliary, the Asian Leaders & Legends Award from Who’s Who in Asian American Communities, the Trailblazer Award from NAPABA. Always interested in furthering the success of law students, he and his family have endowed two scholarships for students interested in the practice of immigration law and for Rice graduates attending UT Law.
