Harbury's Human Rights Happy Hour presentation: "The US and Torture: History and Jurisprudence"

Interview with Jennifer Harbury

Jennifer Harbury applies her knowledge of the logistics of torture and the fomentation of cultures of fear to the current fight against impunity in Guatemala. She speaks of her own experiences interviewing various human rights defenders in the country, and of the violent tactics the military used to control the country. She emphasizes the fact that impunity has allowed many of the perpetrators of state-sponsored violence in Guatemala to continue to be involved in politics. Harbury speaks of the hope that Spanish trials have provided for many Guatemalans.
