A UT Law Degree opens doors at the most venerable firms in the nation, is valued in the chambers of the highest courts in the land, and is an asset to many of the nation's best and brightest public interest lawyers and academics.
Our goal at the Career Services Office (CSO) is to assist students with their career goals by informing them of career options, job search strategies and connecting them with potential employers. We provide career counseling, assistance with resumes and mock interviews, an abundant web site and resource library, and numerous programs throughout the year, including on-campus interviews and off-campus recruitment opportunities, receptions, panel discussions, and workshops designed to allow students to meet with employers and help narrow their areas of interest. Additionally, our popular online job bank lists clerkships, fellowships, and part-time and postgraduate opportunities throughout Texas and the world.
The CSO is committed to supporting the many paths students can take with a law degree from UT. For the past three years, more than 98 percent of our graduates who actively sought employment secured it within nine months of graduation. Texas attorneys recently voted us the best law school services office in the state (Texas Lawyer).
The CSO offers UT Law students the opportunity to participate in On-Campus Interviews (OCI) held each fall and spring. Nearly 70 percent of employer offices who participated in Fall 2008 OCI were from out of state and included law firms of all sizes, government agencies, and other public service employers.
Each year the CSO also participates in 27 job fairs, which are recruitment opportunities held nationwide, in cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
