Public Service Career Day (PSCD) is the largest public service job fair for law students in Texas. During both days of PSCD, public interest and government employers will conduct interviews for paid and unpaid summer and permanent positions. Employers may request to interview first, second, third-year and LL.M. students and/or alumni up to one year after graduation from all nine participating Texas law schools.  Also, employers may choose to host informational tables.  

Interviews will be conducted on Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Employers may choose to participate in one or both interview days. In addition, on Thursday, January 28, employers can also host informational tables in the Law School's Susman Godfrey Atrium from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Students will apply and submit all application materials online. In addition, employers will be able to view application materials and select interviewees online.

Important Dates

• Monday, October 26, 2009: Employer registration on the Texas Consortium Symplicity module opens.
• Tuesday, December 1, 2009: Employer registration closes.
• Thursday, January 7, 2010: Employers may begin reviewing student applications; preselect period on Texas Consortium Symplicity opens.
• Thursday, January 14, 2010: Deadline for employers to submit interview awards is at noon (Central).
• Friday, January 22, 2010: Final interview schedules will be sent to employers via e-mail.
• Thursday-Friday, January 28-29, 2010: Public Service Career Day

How do we register for Public Service Career Day?
Online registration will be available on the Texas Consortium Symplicity module beginning Monday, October 26, 2009. The deadline to register is Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Interview dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that your password for this Symplicity module is not the same password for the UT Law Symplicity module. If you registered for PSCD last year then you should be in the database.

• Returning employers may log in at the Texas Consortium Symplicity module. Reminder: Your user name is your complete e-mail address. If you have forgotten your password, please select the "Forgot My Password" button and enter your e-mail address in the username field. A new password will be sent to you.
• New employers may log in at the Texas Consortium Symplicity module and select the “Register” tab to create your employer profile. Once you have completed this step, you will receive an e-mail with your password so you may register for PSCD.
• Select [Interviews] from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
• Select the [Schedule Requests] tab. Carefully read the instructions in the yellow box, which appear once you have selected this tab.
• Click the [Request Schedule] button. Under Session Name, select "Public Service Career Day 2010."
• Complete your request including describing the positions you are interviewing students for in the "Additional Requests" box. In addition, please write one of the following in the "Scheduling Notes" box:
  • Interview Only
  • Interview and Table Talk
  • Table Talk Only (this option available only on January 28, 2010)
  • Resume Collect (if you will not be conducting interviews on campus but wish to solicit student resumes).
  • Please indicate if you are interviewing students for unpaid positions
  Click [Submit] when you are finished.
• Schedule requests are processed in the order they are received. Once your request is approved, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Note about PDFs: If you choose to complete the PDFs online, please be sure to "save as" and rename the documents to keep the changes before you send via e-mail or fax.

When will we receive the student materials for Public Service Career Day?
Resumes and any other requested prescreen materials (transcripts, writing samples, etc.) will be available on the Texas Consortium Symplicity module on Thursday, January 7, 2010. Detailed instructions will be sent to you once you have registered for Public Service Career Day.

Note regarding application materials: Symplicity converts all uploaded Word documents into PDF documents. Please be aware that occasionally the original format of the document may be altered during the conversion. This is not the fault of the student but a limitation of the conversion software. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

When are interview selections due?
Please designate on the Texas Consortium Symplicity module the students you wish to interview (referred to as "preselect") and any alternates by noon (Central Time) by Thursday, January 14, 2010. Detailed instructions will be sent to you as this date approaches.
