With extensive experience in communications for the higher education and nonprofit sector, Kirston Fortune joined UT Law in 2007 as the Assistant Dean for Communications. Before returning to Texas, Kirston was the director of external communications for the University of Chicago Law School, where she was responsible for alumni and campaign communications. Prior to that she served as an editor and art director at the Park Ridge Center, a bioethics research institute in Chicago, and held a variety of communications and development positions at organizations as diverse as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Archdiocese of Chicago. A Houston native, Kirston has served on several nonprofit boards and holds a degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Laura Castro, ’97, is a writer and media relations expert with more than 25 years of professional experience in journalism, external relations, strategic communications, and public relations. She is also the liaison for the Law School to the UT Office of Public Affairs and an adjunct faculty member in the UT School of Journalism. A native of Austin, Castro worked as a journalist at national news organizations including The Wall Street Journal, New York Newsday, and CNN for more than a decade before earning a law degree from The University of Texas in 1997. She has also written for Newsweek, the American Bar Association Journal, and the Dallas Morning News. Castro is a founding and current member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She has served as a consultant to media executives on diversity issues, mostly notably at The New York Times, and as an advisor to authors and scholars, including a 2006 Pulitzer Prize winner, on communications strategy. She joined UT Law’s Communications Department in 2001.

Tom Henninger, a 1992 graduate of UT Law, has worked at the Law School for more than a decade in career services, alumni relations, and communications. He has extensive writing experience for various Law School departments, for Bill Powers during Powers’ tenure as both dean of the Law School and president of UT-Austin, and for Dean Larry Sager.

Paul Goldman oversees business operations for UT Law’s wide variety of student-edited legal publications. He manages distribution and sales, oversees finances and budgeting, assists with development, and provides students with years of institutional knowledge. Paul holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin.
