Purchase a Laptop with Financial Aid
The University of Texas School of Law students may add the cost of a new laptop computer, up to a maximum of $4,000, to their educational budget. This is for financial aid purposes and may be done only once during their Law School career. In addition, the Law School students may participate in a special offer from Dell and Apple in which the laptops offered meet all of the requirements for connecting to the Law School's network.
In order to qualify, please print, sign and bring the certification form* along with your purchase receipt to your Law School Financial Aid Counselor. If you have borrowed the maximum in Federal Stafford Loans ($20,500*) for the year, the additional cost will have to be covered by an increase to your current Graduate Plus loan or you would need to apply for a new loan. For first year students, purchases must be made after August 1st to be valid.
* Effective July 1, 2007 the amount that a Law Student can borrow in Federal Loans increased from $18,500 to $20,500 per academic year.
