Declaration of Intent to Study Law
The Declaration of Intent to Study Law is to be filed by all persons who have begun their law study at ABA-approved schools in Texas and intend to apply for licensure in Texas. Do not file this form until you have actually started law school. Do not submit a Declaration of Intent if you are not (or will not be) applying as a non-attorney graduate of an ABA-approved law school in Texas.
The Board of Law Examiners provides eFast Direct (Electronic Forms Application Systems Tool). The eFast Direct Instructions and the Declaration Instructions will assist and guide you as you complete your Declaration of Intent. After you have read the eFast Instructions and the Declaration Instructions, go to the eFast Direct Dec link to begin your Declaration of Intent. This program has been developed to enable students to more quickly and efficiently complete, review, edit and submit required filings to the Board of Law Examiners.
Instate Application for the State Bar of Texas
The Instate Application for the State Bar of Texas should be filed only if a J.D. degree was (or will be) awarded by an ABA-approved Texas law school and if the graduate has not been licensed to practice law in another jurisdiction. The application should not be used if one has taken, or applied for, a previous Texas Bar Examination.
You should use the InState eFast (Electronic Forms Application Systems Tool), a software program downloadable from the Board of Law Examiners' website, to complete, review and submit your application. Once the application has been completed, a printed copy of the application should be submitted to the Board of Law Examiners.
