Each first-year section is divided into four mentor groups of around 30 students each. Each mentor group is headed by an upper-class student mentor, who serves an advisor and counselor throughout the entire first year. The mentors welcome incoming law students during the summer before school begins and host get-togethers before Orientation. Their role is to help the first-year students become acclimated to the Law School. They plan social and intramural athletic activities, and help with problems or questions as they arise throughout the year.
