Professor Baade came to Texas in 1971 after more than a decade on the law faculty at Duke. Co-author of the leading casebook on Comparative Law (Foundation, 6th ed., 1998), Professor Baade has written widely on various issues in comparative and international law, and has handled many legal cases that have taken him from New York to Turkey, most recently involving international art law. Among his many articles are "Time and Meaning: Notes on the Intertemporal Law of Statutory Construction and Constitutional Interpretation" (American Journal of Comparative Law, 1995) and "'Original Intention' in Historical Perspective: Some Critical Glosses" (Texas Law Review, 1991).
