Melinda E. Taylor is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Environmental Law Clinic. Taylor joined the faculty of the Law School in January 2006. Prior to joining the faculty, she was the director of the Ecosystem Restoration Program of Environmental Defense where she managed a staff of attorneys, scientists and economists engaged in projects to protect endangered species and water resources across the United States. She specialized in the use of incentives and market mechanisms to encourage the conservation of private land and water resources. Prior to her experience at Environmental Defense, Taylor was a partner in the Austin law firm Henry, Lowerre & Taylor where she represented citizen and environmental groups in an array of environmental permitting matters and state and federal litigation. Taylor has also served as deputy general counsel of the National Audubon Society in Washington, D.C. and was an associate at Bracewell & Patterson in Washington.
