Maurie Levin has represented death sentenced inmates in state and federal court in Texas and Virginia since 1993. She co-teaches the Capital Punishment Clinic, and participates in planning the events of the Capital Punishment Center here at the Law School. She also works with the Mexican Legal Assistance Project, consulting with attorneys representing Mexican Nationals on Texas' death row. In recognition of her death penalty work in Texas, in 2001 Ms. Levin received a President's Commendation from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2008 she was recognized by Texas Lawyer as one of thirty "Extraordinary Woman in Texas Law".
