Tracy Walters McCormack spent 14 years as a litigator before joining the UT faculty in June 2000 as Lecturer and Director of Interscholastic Advocacy. Most recently, she was a senior counsel in the insurance and litigation practice group of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. in Austin. Prior to that, she practiced with CIGNA's Austin Field Litigation Office and Clark, Thomas, Winters and Newton.
While in private practice, Professor McCormack served as an adjunct professor at UT since 1990, teaching trial advocacy skills and Texas Civil Procedure courses, and is one of the authors of a textbook on Texas Civil Procedure Trial and Appeal.
Professor McCormack received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1983 and a J.D. from the University of Texas in 1986. In 1984, she served as briefing clerk to the Honorable Thomas B. Miller, Presiding Justice, West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
Ms. McCormack has been selected as a member of several professional associations, including the Texas Bar Foundation, the State Bar of Texas Consumer Law Council, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the National Order of Barristers, and is a past member of the Austin Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
