The Texas Environmental Law Journal is published quarterly by the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.  The Journal provides Section members current legal articles, recent developments and information pertaining to environmental and natural resources law, as well as news of Section activities and other events pertaining to this area of law.

In 1990, the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas reached an agreement with a student group at the University of Texas School of Law for the students to co-produce the Journal as the Texas Environmental Law Journal.  The students' involvement began with the summer issue of 1990.

Students may join the Texas Environmental Law Journal in three ways.  All students are encouraged to participate in the Texas Law Review Write-On Competition held in the Spring of each year for membership in all UT law journals.  In addition, the Journal editors may conduct their own write-on competition at any time solely for the purpose of identifying quality students with an interest in joining the Journal.  Finally, a student may "note on" to the Journal by submitting an article that is selected for publication.
