PRESS RELEASE

The Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights invites you to participate in the first of its brown bag lunch series
entitled Liberty Lunches.  These lunches will feature local attorneys who practice in the areas of civil liberties and civil rights.
These informal discussions will afford students the opportunity to interact with practitioners from the non-profit, government,
and private sectors that have made a career out of protecting individuals’ liberties.

The first speaker in our series will be David Gonzalez, a criminal and juvenile defense attorney with Sumpter & Gonzalez, LLP (click for bio).
In recognition of his extensive work in state, federal, and district court, The Austin Young Lawyers Association recognized
Mr. Gonzalez as the 2008 Young Lawyer of the Year. He has appeared before the Court of Criminal Appeals, the 3rd and
10th Courts of Appeal, and written successful petitions for discretionary review resulting in lower court decisions being overturned.

Please bring your lunch on September 18 and be prepared for a lively discussion of Mr. Gonzalez’s work as a civil rights attorney.
Dessert will be provided.
