Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights Write On Competition
DEADLINE: Friday, September 12, 2008 at 5:00 PM

The Texas Journal on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights invites current The University of Texas School of Law 1L and 2L students to participate in its Fall 2008 write-on competition.
We are seeking student members with outstanding writing and editing skills and a demonstrated interest in civil liberties and civil rights.

Membership on the Journal provides students with a valuable opportunity to develop and hone their legal research and writing skills. In addition, the Journal provides a unique forum for students to gain exposure to the practice of civil liberties and civil rights law.

This past spring, we hosted a symposium entitled The Roberts Court and the Future of the Fourth Amendment, featuring panel discussions between judges, litigators, and constitutional scholars from across the country.  We also hosted a discussion with James Yee, a Muslim Army chaplain falsely accused of espionage while working at
Guantanamo Bay.

This academic year we will be hosting a series of brown bag lunches featuring a variety of civil rights practitioners. This Spring we will host a symposium examining the timely issue of election law.

If you are interested in applying for a position on the Journal, please pick up an application at the circulation desk in the atrium.

The application deadline is Friday, September 12 at 5:00 PM.

If you have any questions please contact Spencer Wilson or Todd Bellaire at TxJCLCR@law.utexas.edu.
