Book Review:
William J. Curran, reviewing Alexander Brooks’ Law, Psychiatry
and the Mental Health System, 53 Texas L. Rev. 868 (1975).
Abstract:
Professor Brooks has her produced the first law school
“casebook” devoted entirely to the law and psychiatry field.
While the book, containing seventy-six principal cases, fully
qualifies as a case collection, it serves even more as a
gathering of reprinted journal articles and other source
materials, plus original text and bibliographies. This wealth of
material—more than the usual one-semester seminar law and
psychiatry could handle—allows the instructor wide choice as to
what areas he wishes to cover in depth or by survey, and what he
may suggest as reading assignments to individual students or
groups of students interested in further work in the field.
