David Cohen, Full Faith and Credit Versus State Interest: The
Last-in-Time Rule in Texas, 55 TEXAS L. REV. 127 (1976).
Abstract:
This note addresses the phenomenon of divorces that reach across
state lines by focusing upon Layton v. Layton, a recent divorce
decision of a Texas court of civil appeals. Layton not only
represents a case of first impression for the State of Texas but
also raises a question central to the union of states comprising
the Nation: to what extent is the full faith and credit clause
an absolute in our federal system? The note concludes by
criticizing Layton's mechanical approach to interstate divorce
conflicts.
