Book Review:
Peter G. Glenn, Alternative Approaches to Legal Ethics,
57 Texas L. Rev. 307 (1979).
Abstract:
Professor Glenn in his review examines and compares two works:
Ethics in the Practice of Law by Geoffrey C. Hazard, Jr. and
Crisis at the Bar: Lawyer’s Unethical Ethics and What to do
About It by Jethro K. Lieberman. Professor Glenn explores the
resurgent interest in professional ethics problems post
Watergate. While he notes the works differ in scope and style,
he argues that they have the same purpose--to contribute to a
process of informed debate of the question of legal ethics. In
reviewing and comparing the two, Glenn argues Professor Hazard’s
book should make a significant and lasting contribution to our
understanding of these problems. Hazard’s analysis concerns the
reality of the problem as perceived by directly affected
participants, thereby pointing the way toward the process of
re-examining lawyer’s ethics.
