Note:
Jeff Lefkowitz, Property Division Obligations and the Constitutional Prohibition of Imprisonment for Debt, 58 Texas L. Rev. 1307 (1980).

Abstract:
This Note examines the use of lien foreclosure and contempt to enforce property division orders in divorce cases. It begins by observing that the use of contempt to enforce orders to pay money may violate the Texas Constitution as an imprisonment for debt. The Note advocates a uniform statutory scheme for resolving the question of which property division obligations are debt and which are not.
