Abstract:
In this Observation, the author seeks to describe major recent changes in the legal profession. and the likely impact of those changes. The author identifies four major developments: an increase in the number of lawyers; attenuation of the local general professional community; decline in self-regulation of the bar; and a dramatic increase in the size of law firms.
