About TRESL
Mission
The Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law (TRESL) is committed to publication of legal scholarship of the highest caliber. TRESL's goal is to chronicle, comment on, and influence the shape of the law that affects the entertainment and sports industries, throughout the United States and the world.
Volume 11.1 will be published in January, 2010, and Volume 11.2 will be published early next Spring. The journal was formed in 1997 by a group of law students whose initial interest was to facilitate a scholarly discussion on the state of entertainment and sports law in America. They quickly realized that the field encompassed a wide variety of areas inadequately covered by scholarly publications. TRESL seeks to fill this void by providing articles from around the country written by judges, lawyers, professors, and students that analyze the status of sports and entertainment law currently as well as suggesting new avenues of growth within the field.
The journal published student notes as a short supplement to the Texas Entertainment and Sports Law Journal, a publication of the Texas Bar Association, from 1997 to 1999. In the year 2000, however, TRESL commenced nationwide publication of articles by practitioners, professors, and students as the eleventh journal at the University of Texas School of Law. On March 25th, 2010, the journal will be hosting its first symposium on the expiring collective bargaining agreements in the NFL and NBA.
