The Review of Litigation Volume 28 Symposium

On January 22-23, 2009, The Review of Litigation will host our annual symposium in the Eidman Courtroom at the University of Texas School of Law. This year's symposium, entitled "The Rise of Appellate Litigators and State Solicitors General," is scheduled to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Office of Texas Solicitor General. The symposium will explore the creation of state solicitor general and state appellate chief positions. Practicing judges, state solicitors general, litigators, and clients have been invited to discuss changes in the field of appellate litigation.

The first day of the symposium will focus on appellate litigators in the private bar, and panel topics tentatively include "The Rise of the Appellate Litigator" and "Appellate Litigation from the Client's Perspective." The second day of the symposium will focus on state solicitors general and tentatively includes panel discussions on "State Solicitors General & the United States: A View from Washington," "Representing the States in the United States Supreme Court," and "The Impact of State Solicitors General on Appellate Litigation: A View from the Bench."
