Mexican Senator Ninfa Salinas to lecture on “The Past, Present, and Future State of the Environmental and Energy Sectors in Mexico” on March 1, 2013

Senator Ninfa Salinas of Mexico will give a talk entitled “The Past, Present, and Future State of the Environmental and Energy Sectors in Mexico” on March 1, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in JON 5.207 at the Law School. The talk is part of the Distinguished Lecture Series presented by the Law School’s Center for Global Energy, International Arbitration, and Environmental Law. Lunch will be provided.

Salinas is chair of the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee of the Mexican Senate, as well as its Justice Committee, Foreign Relations on North American Affairs Committee, and Energy Committee.  She is an expert on environmental and energy issues.  Prior to her senatorial post, Salinas served in the Mexican House of Representatives, where she wrote a number of important bills, including Mexico’s new Law on Climate Change and a bill to increase investment in the Mexican Institute of Water Technology.  Salinas is also a businesswoman, serving as an executive for various companies affiliated with Mexican conglomerate Grupo Salinas.
