Harvard professor to discuss bankruptcy and divorce
AUSTIN, Texas The University of Texas School of Law invites the public to hear Professor Elizabeth Warren's lecture entitled "Bankruptcy and The Changing Economics of Divorce." The first Akard Lecture, honoring U.S. Bankruptcy Judge John C. Akard (retired), will be held in the Eidman Courtroom from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Warren, who taught at UT Law for five years, is currently the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. She is the author of many articles and books, including co-authored works with UT Law Professor Jay Westbrook, one of the foremost authorities on bankruptcy. Those works include The Fragile Middle Class: Americans in Debt, with Teresa Sullivan and Westbrook (Yale University Press, 2000), The Law of Debtors and Creditors, with Westbrook 4th ed. (Aspen, 2000), and "Financial Characteristics of Businesses in Bankruptcy," with Westbrook 73 American Bankruptcy Law Journal 499 (1999).
