Austin, TEXAS From Nov. 3 -10, the University of Texas School of Law will host lectures on The Law of the New Economy for participants of the Executive Master of European and International Business Law (M.B.L.) Program of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The lecture series is one of two held in the United States during the two-year M.B.L. program, and the only series on "The Law of the New Economy. A second series on a different topic will be held at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA. Written examinations are given following each lecture series.
The U.S.s premier intellectual property professors will speak at the
event, including UT Laws Neil Netanel and R. Anthony Reese, UC-Berkeleys
Mark Lemley, formerly of UT Law, and Stanfords Lawrence Lessig. Other
lectures will be given by Admiral Bobby R. Inman (UTs LBJ School), the
eminent John Temple Lang of Brussels, UT Laws John Robertson, Steve
Bickerstaff, Edward Cavazos and Jonathan Pratter, and Steven Fleckman, managing
partner of Fleckman & McGlynn, PLC. Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and pharmaceuticals
businessman Rick Hawkins will also address the participants. Introductions
by UT Law Dean Bill Powers will occur at a reception Nov. 5.
UT Law Visiting Professor Carl Baudenbacher directs this program, in addition
to his role as Chair of Private, Business and Economic Law at the University
of St. Gallen. Baudenbacher is a justice of the Court of Justice of the European
Free Trade Association.
The University of St. Gallen is one of the top law schools in Europe and
the premier law school of Switzerland and for German speaking countries. The
M.B.L. program, founded by Professor Baudenbacher in 1995, is now in its sixth
year.
