"Today the Regents, Chancellor, and the President of University of Texas announced that the University would not further appeal the attorneys fees in Hopwood v. Texas. While we are proud of our past achievements and of our litigation efforts, we are now concentrating our efforts on nationally-acclaimed programs to recruit students of all backgrounds to our Law School. We have more than 650 African-American alumni and 1,300 Mexican-American alumni. We thank them, and all of our alumni, for their support now and in the future."
