AUSTIN, Texas – The Thurgood Marshall Legal Society (TMLS) at The University of Texas School of Law will present "Affirmative Action Revisited," a debate between UT Law professors Lino Graglia and Douglas Laycock on Thursday, Feb. 20. The event, which is open to the public, is one of many activities hosted this month by TMLS during its Black History Month celebration at the Law School.
The theme of this year's celebration is "Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Future." The affirmative action debate will be held in the Law School's Auditorium (Room 2.114) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Other highlights of the celebration include a luncheon honoring Texas Supreme Court Justice Wallace Jefferson (Feb. 11), a 1988 UT Law graduate, and the unveiling of a new Thurgood Marshall stamp (Feb. 26) in the Eidman Courtroom.
TMLS is The University of Texas at Austin chapter of the National Black Law Students Association. The purpose of TMLS is to foster legal, cultural, and social awareness among African American law students.

| February 7 | Professor Richard Banks, Stanford Law School. Race Relations and the Law. Eidman Jury Room at 12 PM. Open to all faculty, staff, and students. |
| February 11 | TMLS Luncheon honoring Justice Wallace Jefferson, Texas Supreme Court (invitation only) |
| February 12 | TMLS Day (members wear t-shirts) |
| February 13-15 | Rocky Mountain Regional Black Law Students Conference (BLSA), UT School of Law |
| February 20 | Affirmative Action Revisited. Debate between Professors Lino Graglia and Douglas Laycock, 2 PM, UT Law Auditorium. Open to all UT faculty, staff, and students. The public is also welcome. |
| February 22 | TMLS Habitat for Humanity Project. Co-sponsored with the Asian Law Students Association. |
| February 25 | Eric Sheppard, Head Civil Litigator, Travis County Attorneys Office, speaks on Legal Careers at the County Level. Other panelists will attend. Eidman Jury Room at 12 PM. Open to faculty, staff and students. |
| February 26 | Black Art and Jazz Appreciation Day, Law Week Activity. Art exhibits on display in the Jamail Pavilion from 12-2 PM. Light jazz and delicious refreshments. Open to the public. |
| February 26 | Unveiling of a new Thurgood Marshall stamp with the U.S. Postal Service at 11 AM in the Eidman Courtroom. Open to the public. |
| February 2-28 | Art exhibits in front of the UT Law library commemorating the achievements of Black Americans. |
