UT Co-Op Public Interest Award Winners Recognized by Texas Legislature

Ten graduating students honored

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas School of Law’s Co-Op Public Interest Award winners were recognized for their achievement by the members of the 78th Texas Legislature.

House Resolution 738, sponsored by Representative Terri Hodge of Dallas, was approved by the legislature and filed on April 9, 2003. In the resolution, the students were acknowledged for the following, “Through their work in public service, these honorees have demonstrated great compassion and an unwavering dedication to creating a stronger and more just society, and their selfless actions are a source of inspiration to all who know them.”

Awardees include Layla Aflatooni, Andrea Beleno, Luis Figueroa, Shavondalyn Givens, Eliza Hirst, Christina Mann, Marilee Manning, Katherine Saunders, Erica Schommer, and Shannon Lee Snead. Dean William Powers and Eden Harrington, director of the Center for Public Interest Law, selected the UT Co-Op Public Interest Award winners for this year.
