AUSTIN, Texas — The Center for Law, Business, and Economics will present the first in a series of lunch panels on The Business of Law Practice on Thursday, Sept. 9. This week’s panel is titled “Starting Your Career Off Right—How to Make Your Early Years as a Lawyer Successful.”
Thomas McCaffrey of Haynes and Boone will discuss with Professors Ronald Mann and Brian Rider their experiences in the early years of practice in the real world. The focus will be on what you should expect, how to do well, and how to build for the future. Among other things, they will discuss the most common criticisms of lawyers by their clients, business development for the young lawyer, differing law-firm compensation systems and their affect on work environments, and the importance of charitable activities in enhancing your career.
Pizza, salads, and soda will be provided; feel free to bring a bag lunch if you prefer. The panel will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in room TNH 3.124.
