Free Screening of Juarez Murders Documentary, Oct. 26

AUSTIN, Texas — The Domestic Violence Clinic and Survivor Support Network at The University of Texas School of Law are sponsoring a showing of "Señorita Extraviada" ("Missing Young Woman"), a documentary by Lourdes Portillo. The film tells the story of the more than 370 kidnapped, raped and murdered young women of Juarez, Mexico. The murders first came to light in 1993 and young women continue to "disappear" to this day. Free and open to the public, the screening takes place on October 26th, 4:30 p.m., at the Francis Auditorium.

Janet Hamilton, senior counsel with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, will moderate a discussion after the showing. Hamilton received her B.A. in 1972 and her M.S. in 1974 from the University of Texas, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. in 1986 from Yale Law School. She is a member of the Texas, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania Bars; the American Bar Association; the Travis County Bar Association; the Travis County Women Lawyers Association; and Texas Women Lawyers.
