AUSTIN, Texas — Students at The University of Texas School of Law have organized Operation Care Packages, a program dedicated to ship at least 350 care packages to Central Texas Marines in Iraq in time for the holidays. Operation Care Packages will hold a collection drive in the Law School Atrium, from Nov. 1 to Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Possible donations include candy, toiletries, non-perishable food and condiments, magazines, games, videos and DVDs. A full list of items that can be donated are listed here: http://www.utexas.edu/law/orgs/sba/carepacks.pdf. Individuals or companies who would like more information on sponsoring this effort should contact Betty Chen.
About Operation Care Packages:
In the comfort of our own homes, it’s easy to forget how accessible some
everyday conveniences are to us. Did you know that Marines are required to shave
every day in order to keep their gas masks in place? This may already seem like
a pain but think about having to do it with dull razors! Upon arriving to a
different and faraway place, there is nothing so sweet as a letter or package
from home, especially during the holidays. The goal of this project is to ship
350 – 500 care packages to Central Texas Marines overseas in time for
Thanksgiving or Christmas. We have two specific needs for support: postage funds
and items to donate.
