AUSTIN, Texas—U.S. government officials including Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Sen. John Cornyn, and Rep. Lamar Smith participated in an important in-depth panel discussion on protecting intellectual property with high-tech industry leaders and UT Law professor Ronald Mann on Monday, Oct. 31. Court TV anchor Jack Ford was the moderator.
The panelists discussed topics such as the importance of criminal and civil enforcement of intellectual property rights, protecting intellectual property for future economic growth, the significance of intellectual property for innovation, challenges to global intellectual property protection, and the importance of education and prevention efforts.
